By the Moonlight
The bowed beak
pierces through the skin of fire.
Kicking the world inside out
with deep blind worries
and harsh arguments
the filtered ashes
try to feel lonely,
but there is to much
of them.
On the ashes of a tree
only one ornament
is needed---
an egret
who by the moonlight
learns to cry
with all the questions
and to rejoice.

with all the answers.
I am wind.

I blow people's hair.
I pick up things as I patrol the world.
I whisper in peole's ear but no-one can see me.
I spin a cicle of death.

Early Autumn

the sky , the trees, the grass its me.
the blue, the red, the green ice tea.
sharp grass, wet, dew its all so new.
that's an early autumn for you.
by Kayla Waters

winter

A white blanket of snow covers all the land
You hear nothing as the silent wind pases by
The warm hot chocolate sliding down your throat
The smell of pine trees
You hurt as the cold icey wind bites at your finger tips
Nippy winter.

Fall:
The strong breeze ruffles the crisp leaves,
Tasty cobbler set on the kitchen table,
The colorful leaves falling to the ground,
Scented candles lit to refresh your home,
And the piles of leaves ready for you to jump into.
I'm fascinated with fall!

Winter:
Delicious cookies putting off a great fragrance,
Christmas music playing,
Foamy hot chocolate filled with marshmallows,
The warmth of sitting by your lover at an open fire,
The cold snow that falls on the ground,
Glorious memories are made every winter!

Autumn Poetry

This Tuesday we ventured outside since
"Experiences are the catalysts that ignite expression*."

As a class, we took in the change of seasons with all of our senses. After 15 minutes of experiencing the world around us, we jotted down some thoughts to use as inspiration for our Autumn Poetry (scroll all the way down to see our notes).

The following poems are the result of our shared sensory experiences:

Hiku by Makenzie M. Leath

Leaves, Trees, and the breeze
Painting Pictures in the field
Relaxed then asleep

Poem by Makenzie M. Leath
I love the way the air smells
The crickets sound like different bells
The grass is brown and dry
All of this makes me want to fly
It smells so sweet
Under my feet
And I really love the heat
This is a poem not a hiku
I love Fall how about you

Autumn by Jordan Wood
Every time the wind flows by
the kids laugh and run right by

1st by Claire Jeffries
Sparkling sunshine
A powerful breeze with a hint of spring
I want to relax in the grass
and sing. beautiful views
of colorful trees.
I stand and watch a butterfly
rest on a rock in
the beginning of
fall
2nd by Claire Jeffries
As I feel the breeze;
I know that God is with me.
Oh, how I love fall!
3rd by Claire Jeffries
Autumn is so relaxing.
everything I see is dead, but for
some reason its beautiful. i love
the way God made our world;
he knew exactly what we
bargined for.

Autum by Genna Lentz
The changing leaves makes my mind calm the thought of dressing up for candy makes me want to jump for joy. I love autum because its a time to be with family. All these things are wonderful, but when you think about these things, you don't think about the one who made it. You think about what costume your going to ware, or who's coming for Thankgiving. When I think of autum I think of the God who created everything. That he spoke that the leaves will change, and the kids will dress up, and that people will adore his creation. Seeing what he has made makes me feel calm and relaxed like I could lay in the sun for hours with a cold drink and listen to kids jump in leaf piles or take a walk through the woods and just have quiet time. I adore autum.

Autumn by Mrs. Todd
Autumn smells crisp, refreshing, and hopeful.
Autumn invites middle school girls to climb trees.
Autumn crunches through October and November with dried grass and leaves.
Autumn chills bare feet treading on cold, exposed earth.
Autumn displays purple-topped trees like caramel-dipped apples.
Autumn produces pomegranates, sweet potatoes, and pumpkins.
Autumn frames Tennessee houses in majestic colors.
Autumn blankets calico hillsides with gold, crimson, and green.
Autumn whispers with the rustling of leaves across marbled grass.
Autumn signals the end of summer, foreshadows winter, and reminds us of spring.

AUTUMN
see.hear.taste.touch.smell.know
grass and leaves poked feet
sharp grass
flowers dry
crunching leaves
crunching under feet
wet with dew in shade
no clouds
blue sky
cool
leaves colorful
pretty trees
leaves taste plain like lettuce
squishy berries with seeds like tomatoes
soft blades of grass
some leaves thick like sandpaper
branches fall off tree when you touch it
breeze feels nice
sun feels good lying in grass
view from trees beautiful
hear cars going by--especially trucks
want to make a bouquet
smells fresh and clean
don't choke/not dirty
smells like soap
feels relaxed, rested
gorgeous in middle of field
tree smells like the air
ground smells wet
autumn colors
colorful/pretty
mountain painting
not the same red repeated
paint a picture
different shades
children laughing and playing
Thanksgiving turkeys
could sleep
calm, soothing
relax for hours
sun's rays so bright you have to close eyes
hammock, book, iced tea, lemonade, water--perfect
